What the Industry Peeps are Doing for Xmas: Courtney Smith
The puddings are made, the homely smells of cinnamon and spice fill kitchens nationwide, the Christmas tree lights are twinkling in windows all over the country.. it's nearly time for Santa! But have you ever wondered how some of our Industry faves feel about the holiday season? Today we speak with popular stylist, the very lovely Courtney Smith!
So Courtney, it's nearly Christmas, are you very organised / freaking out?
Neither… I’m very disorganized, but taking it my stride! I’m not a stress shopper, I’ll see things as I work and buy them… I have a small family so it’s not too much work to find them thoughtful gifts.
Loving the hype / bah humbugging like mad?
Loving the hype… I am a Christmas nut!
When will you start winding down from work?
My last job is booked on 21st December so I’ll start winding down then. Ireland AM have their Christmas special on 23rd so all the regulars go into the studio for some festive fun (but that’s not work!)
How crazy is your work schedule up to Christmas?
Well it’s quieter than most months as all my photoshoots are now finished until January. But I still film for Xpose and Ireland AM, and all the Spring/Summer ’12 press days have started so it’s still all go!
Your most favourite thing about this time of year is....
The lights, I love all the fairy lights around Dublin City this time of year. Instantly puts me in a good mood and makes the city look like a Disney movie at night.
Your least favourite thing about this time of year is....
Queues everywhere!
The Top three items on your Christmas wishlist are ....
The same item I get every year…Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume, Investment piece …Pauric Sweeney handbag, Lusting after… Delfina Delettrez ring,
Snow... or No?....
I’m probably alone in this… but definitely snow! I like it at the beginning when it’s pure white and everything slows down around you, just because it has to! I also have cool new snow boots I got on Ebay that I would like to show off.
To bling or not to bling, that is the question....
Bling of course (in moderation) – nothing makes me smile more than a bit of sparkle.
Your alltime favourite Christmas single is ....
White Christmas Bing Crosby version
The one person you would simply love to meet under the mistletoe this Christmas would have to be.....
Santa?
You love / hate office Christmas parties because .....
Well I have never been to an office party, but I assume I would love one. One of the pitfalls of being self-employed I guess.
Your tree is beautifully real or perfectly fake............
It’s real… I wouldn’t say beautiful though. It’s kinda bald on top, slightly crooked and partially decorated … myself and my housemate haven’t quite found the time to finish it yet!
TV Programme / film you are most looking forward to over the Christmas period is The oldies… anything with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
Favourite Christmas Tipple....
Hot chocolate… I know it’s not alcoholic so a little boring but it puts me in the Christmassy mood! And I’m not an egg nog or mulled wine fan.
And from Christmas tipples to Christmas TIPS - what's your best Christmas tip?
Fashion related tip is… if you want to look festive and stylish, jewel tones will look great for Christmas day; just don’t wear green, red and gold together or you’ll end up looking like a Christmas tree.
Non-fashion related… relax and enjoy precious moments with your loved ones.
How do you plan to Spend the Christmas holidays?
With family and friends, catching up, exchanging gifts and stories… and most importantly - relaxing.
