What the Industry Peeps are Doing for Xmas: Lorna Claire Weightman
The countdown is on!!!! There are only mere days to go before we are stuffing our faces, pulling Christmas Crackers and hoping against hope that the next glass of wine will help make the Eastenders Christmas special seem remotely palatable... well, that will be MY Christmas afternoon - but have you ever wondered how some of our stylish Industry peeps feel about Christmas? We caught up with stylist, blogger (styleisle), fashion writer and StyleNation Presenter, the gorgeous Lorna Claire Weightman to pry into her Christmas plans!!
SO... Lorna, are you very organised / freaking out?
I am normally very organised but this year, I think I ‘ve only bought two presents so far! This week, I have promised myself….
Loving the hype / bah humbugging like mad?
I just love this time of year, even the cold! I feel more stylish around now, with loads of faux fur gilets and stoles and boots over jeans. Being all wrapped up and cosy gets me in the spirit. And I love being in town when everyone is shopping!
When will you start winding down from work?
Not until the 22nd when I have a lovely evening with some friends planned. That will be the start of my festive season.
How crazy is your work schedule up to Christmas?
Mental. I recently left the world of finance behind to try my hand at fashion and since then, I have had so much to do. Building your own brand is a challenge as well as being exciting, but so far so good. Starting my blog was the best decision I ever made!
Your most favourite thing about this time of year is....
Being at home with my family for some work-free time. Sitting by the fire watching films on TV for afternoons on end. And eating my body weight in selection boxes of course.
Your least favourite thing about this time of year is....
When people go so over the top with presents. A gesture has the same meaning and we need to remind ourselves of that sometimes.
The Top three items on your Christmas wishlist are ....
Only three….hmmm….
1) An Hermes Birkin.
2) The entire range of the Academie Paris skin care range – there are no products like it!
3) A Balmain leather jacket
Snow... or No?....
Definitely no. Last year it took me hours to shovel snow off my car so I could get out of my drive to head home for Christmas. So many of my friends who have emigrated over the last year, got stuck abroad until at Stephen’s Day that words could not give them comfort. I hope it stays away this year!
To bling or not to bling, that is the question....
Bling bling bling bling bling bling bling bling bling bling and more bling. I’m a magpie!
Your alltime favourite Christmas single is ....
Stay another day by East 17. Reminds me of the school disco.
The one person you would simply love to meet under the mistletoe this Christmas would have to be.....
My fiancé. But if we are talking famous people, I have a soft spot for actor, Richard Armitage. Google him.
You love / hate office Christmas parties because .....
I love them! It’s a chance to catch up with people I may not have seen for a while. Plus an excuse to get all glammed up!
Your tree is beautifully real or perfectly fake............
Perfectly fake in my apartment, but at home we normally take one from the garden which my Dad planted years ago. Either way, it’s the decoration that matters. Being a stylist, I tend to be a little fussy on the decorations…..
TV Programme / film you are most looking forward to over the Christmas period... Probably the Downton Abbey Christmas special. I am obsessed with period dramas and I have been pining after Downton since it ended.
I wouldn’t say no to a bit of Home Alone either!
Favourite Christmas Tipple....
Baileys Coffee. The only time of the year I have them! Yum.
And from Christmas tipples to Christmas TIPS - what's your best Christmas tip?
Before you go shopping do what Santa does and make a list. Check it twice. It’s easier to budget and focus your mind when you go shopping when you do a little thinking before you go and it takes the stress out of it.
How do you plan to Spend the Christmas holidays?
I will head home to Kildare on the 23rd to spend Christmas. We always go to Midnight Mass and it’s just an amazing evening. On the 26th I normally come back to Dublin to spend a couple of days with my fiancé and my friends who are home. It’s the only week I close over the laptop and just enjoy being with those closest to me.
What a lady! Thanks LORNA!!
