Five Mins with Milliner Edel Ramberg
News: (picture: Milliner Edel Ramberg - taken by Martina Regan). Not only was one of the guests at the Royal Wedding of Zara Philips and Mike Tindall last week, wearing an Edel Ramberg designed hat, but this busy milliner also happened to win 'Best Hat' at the Galway Races on Thursday last too. Edel had many stunning creations dotted around various punters on the day, as had many local and national milliners, but it was this gorgeous piece below, worn by Sieglinde Mullers, that was ultimately chosen as the winning hat. Edel has been inundated with well wishes and interview requests since the win was announced so we were delighted to be able to nab five minutes with this busy milliner to find out what whent into the making of this stunning hat.
Q: Can you describe the creation?
It was cobweb gold fabric overlay on hand painted orchids with gold swarovski crystals sewn on and caramel swirls intertwined.
Q: Was it a bespoke creation for this particular lady?
Yes it was a bespoke creation for Sieglinde and it is named 'Siggy' after her!
Q: How long did it take you to make?
It took roughly 14 hours with my mum more or less spending half of that time on it - she helps me and advises me on EVERYTHING!!!
Q: Did you have many hats at Ladies Day this year?
I don't know how many exactly were present for Ladies Day but we were well in double digits.
Q: How were you celebrating your win?
I only let my hair down after 11 that night as we were interviewed all day. Celebrated with family (my aunt who helps me loads) and close friends over dinner and bubbly at my house with Sieglinde taking pride of place at the dinning room table.
