T'is the Season to be Dating... Fa La La La La
Are you a little daunted by the prospect of being caught under the mistletoe this year? Don’t be put off by the upcoming Christmas party season as you may find Cupid's arrow is pointing directly at you this festive season. Christmas is a great time to date. Everyone is full of festive cheer and open to meeting new people. Also, there are so many parties, social occasions and opportunities to mix your social circles, the possibilities are endless.
Here are some tips from Dating guru, Anne-Marie Cussen, of the dating service for busy professionals “It’s Just Lunch”, to set you on your way:
Smile: 53% of respondents in a recent “It’s Just Lunch” survey said they find a great smile the most attractive feature. So make sure you smile when entering a party!
Pucker up: Red lipstick is not only huge this season from a fashion perspective but it also makes your lips look plump, sexy and very kissable and it looks fabulous for the party season!
First impressions count: Feeling comfortable, confident and looking your best will make you feel your best. It’s the party season and a great excuse to dress up - so make sure that before you go out, you look – and most importantly – feel, fabulous.
Body Language: Your body language is one of the most telling signals you can transmit. Turning your body towards the person you're speaking to, keeping your feet flat on the floor and leaning forward are actions that show interest. Also, slightly tilting your head can give the message that you are interested. Crossing your arms, holding a drink high in front of you or turning your body away will tell a person you are not interested.
Keep conversation light: No one wants to hear about your ex or how much you hate your job so keep conversation light. Ask questions and then listen – 38% of singles say one of the most important things they notice on in a potential date is whether they asked questions and listen and don’t just talk about themselves. Be interested as well as being interesting.
Stay Aware: According to an “It’s Just Lunch” Survey of over 3,500 people, 29% of women would approach a man in the supermarket if they thought he was attractive - Bear that in mind for when you’re doing the Christmas food shop - choosing your turkey shouldn’t be the only thing on your mind!
Be open to meeting people while traveling: In a recent poll of 3000 respondents on American Airlines, 25% of have met someone they were interested in dating on an aeroplane. Christmas involves a lot of travel, with all that queuing and waiting around, it’s a good opportunity to strike up a conversation with other weary travelers.
