The Orchid Club - Bringing Online Social Networking, Offline!
The Orchid Club - Bringing Online Social Networking into the Real World.
Wanna be in my gang, my gang, my gang?
Apart from chatting online with the people you know personally, like your family, friends and neighbours, we all know, that online social networking has now also become hugely important for moving within industry circles for work purposes, connecting with like-minded folk with similar interests (politics, sport, media, fashion whatever), or simply re-connecting with long lost, old friends. Online social networking has definitely helped people to bridge the gap of distance and make it easier to interact with those with whom you have much in common - as opposed to the people you might just bump into on a Saturday night 'down the local'. HOWEVER, the downside to online social networking, is that it is... well... online and although the cynics in our midst would, at this juncture, say 'Aw just get yourself down the pub for a bit of 'real' social networking' that is all well and good most of the time, but sometimes wouldn't it be nice to connect face-to-face with some of your virtual friends? Those with whom the extent of your interaction thus far has been via comments, messages and the odd mutual 'like' or 'share'.
Well, this new members club 'The Orchid Club' aims to bring Online Social Networking into the real world so that, from time to time, you can actually 'socialise' with the people you might normally only interact with online.
Yep. it's an interesting one! Could meeting an online friend for the first time come with the same nerves as if it were a blind date? Does 'new friendship' also require a certain spark, or chemistry and has that chemistry already been established online through your previous interactions? Will your offline persona .. i.e. YOU in real life... match, surpass or fall short of your online one? Does the 'personal touch' always seal the deal?
Well you will have to try it and find out!
At the moment, this is based in Dublin, in a rather aptly named venue considering the concept - The 'Lost Society' Bar in the city centre - but I personally feel that this idea wont take long to start spreading nationwide.
Launching on 27th January, with an invite only event in Dublin’s Lost Society, The Orchid Club aims to bring together like minded people who until now may only have interacted virtually. In the coming months they will be hosting events, which include, bands, singers, magicians, how to make that perfect cocktail and cooking events, in fact everything from gourmet dining experiences to live entertainment and everything in between, there's something for everyone.
The Orchid Club is a must for everyone who has ever longed to get involved in something rather than living the social experience through online friends.
Don’t miss out on the chance to participate.
