New Charity Shop ENNIS - MidWest Simon Community

MID WEST SIMON COMMUNITY OPENS A NEW CHARITY SHOP WITH COFFEE DOCK TO FUND AND HOUSE THEIR NEW HOUSING ADVICE SERVICE

The Mid West Simon Community is to open their new charity shop in Ennis on Friday 2nd December 2011. Funds generated by this new shop will be used to support their new housing advice service established at the same premises in Ennis developed in response to a needs analysis undertaken by the charity.

The Charity shop/coffee dock is situated on Woodquay Ennis and promises to be a bright and welcoming space for people to shop, drop in, have a cuppa and get advice as well as a guaranteed warm welcome.

Sarah Birchett CEO of Mid West Simon says: having consulted and collaborated closely with the CIC and with Clare Haven and other agencies in the Ennis and Clare county areas we know that there are people desperately in need of housing advice to prevent homelessness and to help them access housing options, whether that is in private rented sector or in social housing. People are dealing with increasingly difficult situations with the financial constraints that we are all facing, having maximum impact on those who are already on or near the breadline. As part of our overall strategy to develop services to help people in the County, our housing team will be providing advice and assistance to people on a sessional basis with regular surgeries at the Coffee Dock on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2-4pm. The shop will be stocked with a range of information leaflets on housing and associated issues, with a dedicated phone line & internet access and will always have staff to signpost the way for people making enquiries at all other times.

Our aim is for the shop to be a focal point for people enjoying charity shopping in the area, and is the vehicle to allow us to fund the housing service.

We have some fantastic clothes in stock ready for Christmas parties, some great coats for adults and children, and lots of adults and children’s clothes. As well as all this there are all sorts of things to check out for gift ideas for those you love or just to spoil yourself .There are some amazing bargains to be had so why not come along and see for yourselves in good time before Christmas.

The whole scheme has been a wonderful success and a testament to great team work and project management, done with care and attention to detail by all who have participated in it to reflect that we, at Mid West Simon Community believe in community, believe in working together, believe in creating new opportunities and ultimately, we believe in people.
