Absorbing the Shock of the New Year Fitness Regimes?
The most 'shock' that my unsuspecting chest area will have to absorb right now is the thought of squeezing back into my pre-christmas clothes and having to get back to work... but if you are one of those wonderfully motivated folk who have decided that this January will be the one during which they immerse themselves in fitness, nutrition and new exercise regimes, then you might be interested in this (and eh, in need of a fab shock absorber sports bra... that's where I was going with that intro...#fail) ANYWAY, 'Shock Absorber' have teamed up with Jenny Pacey, Olympic bobsleigher and celebrity fitness expert no less, to create a new workout plan to help women achieve perfectly sculpted arms and a lean upper body... just what we need after all those mince pies.
So to get Olympic standard arms Jenny Pacey has offered simple exercise tips that can be performed at home or at the gym and being the generous types that we are, we are bringing them to you! Listen up girlies!
Super Sculpting Triceps Dip.
This is an easy exercise that targets the muscles in the back of the arms:
How to perform:
Face away from a chair and position your hands on the edge with your legs forward in front of your body
Ensure your hips stay under the shoulders, lower your bottom to the floor by bending your elbows and push back up by straightening your arms
Fit tip:
To progress, straighten your legs to increase the load through the triceps
Try three to four sets of 20 repetitions
For extra calorie burn perform a superset, by including a leg exercise in-between sets while your arms are recovering
Upper Body Sculpting.
This involves simple weight training exercises to tone and sculpt the chest and shoulders, including the seated shoulder press:
How to perform:
Using two dumbbells, take a seated position to remove your ability to push with your legs
Hold the weights just above the shoulder with the elbows out
Extend the left arm above the head, pumping the arm straight up
Lower and then repeat with the right
Alternate the hands for one minute maintaining a straight posture through the spine
Fit tip:
Try three sets of one minute, with one minute break in between, to really sculpt sleek shoulders
