The Low Down on the L'Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy Awards
Fantastic beats that pumped so hard your chest heaved to their rhythm, huge screens, interesting pyrotechnics, impressive voiceovers, astonishing displays of costume design and last, but by no means least, hair creations that would, quite simply, leave you speechless. If this much hadn’t given it away, I could launch into descriptions of the uber excited, wonderfully turned out, flamboyant and fun, hair colourists and stylists that flocked from qualifying salons from across the country to be there... that would surely seal the deal. Yes, it was, of course, one of the biggest hair competitions in the country, the L’Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy awards, which took place in the O’ Reilly Hall, UCD this week.
The high energy event has become one of the Industry’s most highly anticipated annual occurrences. With finalists having been chosen from various eliminator rounds previously in the year, the excitement on the big awards night is palpable as you walk in through the Conservatory at the O Reilly Hall; humming with chat, laughter and nervous glances, as hoards of people - with fabulous hair - congregate. The demonstrative shows put on by RUSH Hair and ZEBA Hairdressing, were insanely creative and dramatic with amazing fashion choices, hair creations and dance moves. RUSH’s tribute to Alexander McQueen was fitting, high energy and very moving. ZEBA’s dancers looked amazing, were full of attitude and their finale model, a rustic bride (pictured left) - was simply awe-inspiring. Indeed awesome productions on both parts. Well done to both salons on a magnificent job.
