Get your hair 'X Factor Ready' for the party season!!!
Cheryl Cole’s hair is the envy of women the world over and her signature big and beautiful hair is one of the key looks for Christmas. To get this look in salon, ask for a soft curly blow dry with lots of volume and for a true Cheryl look ask for some balayage highlights which is like airbrushing colour for hair.
If you are trying to create this look at home, here are some useful tips.
1. Prep damp hair with Redken Starch Spray (€16). This helps protect the hair from heat and eliminate static.
2. Next blow dry your hair with a round brush. To get volume Cheryl style, set your hair in either large Velcro rollers or heated rollers if you have them
3. Remove rollers and gently brush out – remember you want to create soft curls and volume
4. For added height gently backcomb the crown and finish with L’oreal Elnett hairspray (€6.95)
Smooth and sleek
Cheryl’s judging counterpart, Danni Minogue proves that a bob doesn’t have to be boring. Danni’s sleek blog is bang on trend at the moment and is more versatile than you think. Here at some tips for recreating Danni’s enviable look at home.
1. Prep damp hair with Redken Starch Spray (€16) which will protect the hair from heat as well as eliminating any frizz.
2. Next section hair using clips and blow dry straight using a round brush. Remember the look is smooth and sleek so make sure to point the nozzle downwards to smooth the hair as you dry.
3. Finish by gently running a GHD through your hair. GHD has recently launched its GHD Gold series (from €159) which allows for smooth, snag-free styling.
For something a little bit different this party season ask your stylist for 1930’s esque fingerwaves which look great on short bobs.
Higher and higher
The basic bun is one of the key looks for the festive season and featured heavily in Prada’s Autumn/Winter catwalk. For a sexy night-time party do ask your stylist for a messy bun which looks great teamed with a simple hair band or bejewelled slide. Alternatively if you want something more structured think ballerina chic with a high smooth bun.
Here are some useful tips for recreating this look at home.
1. If you have fine or flyaway hair, use a product such as Bumble and Bumble thickening spray (€26.50) which will add volume and body to the hair
2. Using a brush fix hair into a high ponytail and secure into place. For a super smooth finish use elastics with hooks at the end which keeps the tension in the hair. These can be purchased in any chemist.
3. An easy way to create a bun is to use a donut which is available to buy from chemists across the country.
4. Backcomb the ponytail for added volume and place the donut over the ponytail. Secure into place with some clips.
5. Smooth away any flyaway hairs with Redken glass look serum (€28)
