Ah..So, My Trip to Cork Fashion Week....

Apart from the obvious benefits to a night out in Cork city (always both a social and sartorial pleasure) I had an even better than usual reason for heading to the Rebel County this weekend.  I was to sit on the judging panel (oooh get me!) for the 'Designer Show' at Cork Fashion Week and I was really looking forward to seeing what Cork’s young designers had to offer.  Joining me on the panel, in the gorgeous surroundings of the Triskel Arts Centre (Cork's original City Hall) were the following - a lady who is as beautiful as the designs she creates, Irish designer Heidi Higgins; Cork’s most noted fashion photographer & Editor of NONE Magazine, Miki Barlok and radio broadcaster and social columnist with the Evening Echo, Martina O’ Donoghue.  Also joining in the fun were the fabulously fashionable folk from ‘ Fashion TV’ .... (yes cheesy alliteration,  but I don’t care, Fashion TV. were there!! whooop); their presence being a coo for the West / South-West, that most Dublin based fashion events haven’t managed to achieve.

So anyway, Lara (from Fashion TV... did I mention they were there??) and I got on pretty well, however she was very busy of course, as was her boss Amanda and the crew – so our conversations were brief and consisted a lot of me minding bags, holding their seats... .(which I failed miserably at in the end – long story) and smiling (i.e. gazing in awe) at them.  They were also both the epitome of style; dressed simply and impeccably in black.....but then, they work for Fashion TV darling....  what did I expect?

I have written a more serious, structured post on the actual ‘fashion’  from the evening and the winners from the design show etc which, if you are interested in, you shall find if you click here - but in the meantime, this was the point that I boldly sneaked backstage and stole a few snapshots.

And look at these gorgeous hats that I spied backstage? Just happened to take a sneaky pic of them! My favourite was the beautiful cerise pink feather headpiece and in case you’re interested, these were all created by Kinsale Milliner, the very lovely, Celestine McCoy.

To someone who would die (literally would take a bullet) for sugar and sweet stuff in general, but can’t eat wheat or dairy, this table was nothing short of a great big biscuit caked, caramel coated, cream filled, chocolate covered tease! But wow, it looked the business didn’t it? I gathered from the general moans and groans around me that the goods tasted as yum as they looked! Food was from the Blue Haven Food Co. and the drinks were from West Coast Cooler.

Some of the veeery beautiful ladies attending the Designer show, that I managed to pap on my iphone before rushing to my seat.
