It's 'Full on Floral'
Ah yes, floral prints might have somewhat girly girl connotations, but full on floral prints are not for the faint-hearted. No Sireee.... In general they have been popping up on dresses, bags and shoes in a big way every spring /summer season now for quite a few years (before this, such heavy floral patterns were very much left to adorning your grannys' curtains or sofa cushions - florals on your actual clothing in the late nineties and early noughties would have been an extreme fashion faux pas unless you were cool enough to be part of the 'anti fashion' pack) but more recently i.e. the past four to five years, it has been back on the catwalks with a bang and each season it has been interpreted differently and perhaps slightly more courageously than the season preceeding it. This season, I am loving seeing it take an even funkier twist, appearing rather daringly as a full-on print on blazers! I am a blazer girl at heart and can admit to owning many, many different ones, however, I have yet to take the 'floral blazer' plunge and I am intent on remedying that asap! Although I start this post with a stunning Alexander McQueen jacquard jacket which is technically more of a gold vine inspired print than a floral one, it's still essentially a statement making, 'floral-esque' style print on a blazer and that's the goal - and I've followed it with some more accessible blazers also!
So....Are you brave enough for full on floral?
Adoring this Alexander McQueen gold and red printed jacquard jacket which is available right now on my wardrobe.com - and the good news just keeps on coming!! It was a whopping €4,522 but now is retailing at, wait for it, €1,909 (Ok Ok, but it's two and a half THOUSAND cheaper though.....) I just keep on imagining how special I would feel in this jacket..... (imagining being the operative word)
Asos have a more pocket friendly interpretation of the floral blazer with this stunning jacket from the spring collection at ASOS (€87.43) - its in the Petite Section though, which means it would probably stop fast at my elbows.
Not as loud, but nonetheless rather brave; this is what I would call 'rather more than a nod to the trend' with this cute floral blazer jacket from Penneys - a steal at only €25
Making a trend your own: So, if 'full-on-floral' frightens you a little and perhaps you prefer to be a little more rough around the edges, why not harden things up a little by sporting it on a retro bomber jacket for instance. those elasticated cuffs definitely give it a more tough urban edge. Check out this this floral bomber jacket from New Look only €39.99
