Alison Conneely and her Eme Vandal aw2010 Collection

Gladrags for the City girl

‘Carefully crafted contemporary elegance’ is certainly the most apt description you could give to the work of Irish designer, Alison Conneely. We have fallen simply head over heels for her simply stunning aw10 collection which combines this seasons pared back minimalism, with elegance and old world charm. Her fabulously flattering pieces are sophisticated in wools, silk and nanny goat skin. Alison refers to them as ‘fragile but iconic fairytale heroines’ and we can see why, with her pristine tailoring and stunning attention to detail giving them the ultimate platform. But Alison has managed to not only bring to life her romantic vision, but to merge this with a more practical view of Ireland’s modern woman – the results are truly breathtaking. The shoot is described as ‘romantic icons working in the great metropolis, melancholic heroines finding their way through the chaos of the crowded streets’.
