Striking 'Diarmuid and Grainne' themed Shoot

The concept, or narrative epic, for this shoot was based on the Irish legend Diarmuid & Grainne, with each shot telling a piece of the amazing story. Styled by stylist and fashion writer Kate Slattery, shot by noted fashion photographer Miki Barlok and clothing designed by Grainne O Connor, this dramatic and striking shoot tells the remarkable tale superbly. Kate Slattery said of the shoot "...When styling the shoot I wanted to keep the clothes in theme with the story and the era in which it was based but also utilise current trends, such as Rodarte's warrior woman, Chanel's fur pieces for Winter 2010/2011, the Maxi Dress and the outerunderwear trend".

The Story behind the Shoot:
A tragic Love story-Gráinne is to marry the ageing warrior lord of the Fianna, Fionn Mac Cumhaill. At the wedding feast Gráinne is distressed that her betrothed is older than her father and sets her sights on his most loyal warrior Diarmaid O Duibhne. Grainne and Diarmuid run away together. When Fionn wakes from his slumber, and realises that Diarmuid has run off with Gráinne he is overcome with rage and jealousy and Immediately gathers his band of warriors in pursuit of the couple. He swears he will hunt them down. A magical chase begins..."
