Beg Borrow or Steal.... or just 'be Sent in the Post'

A couple of weeks ago I got a parcel in the post. This in itself is not particularly exciting - in fact, it’s a daily occurrence. But unlike most of my parcels, it was a pair of jeans - indeed a nice little surprise for a denim lover like myself.  Beg, Borrow or Steal (hot new denim label getting a lot of exposure at the moment after being launched at London Fashion Press week on 18th May and subsequently featured in Grazia magazine) had sent me through a pair of gorgeous skinny jeans for me to road-test.  I unfolded them and admired their sexy look and feel – but it wasn’t until I gingerly peeped at the label to see what size they were, that I felt my shoulders slump.  Size 8.
Initially I was a little angry, I won’t lie. No one had asked me my size – which is not an 8, I hasten to add. Then, staring into space, I began to soften – imagining that somewhere, someone in the world of fashion PR-dem, had discussed my size and had come to the joint conclusion that my 'slender frame'  (their words of course – they may have also used words such as toned and attractive) was bound to be no more than a 'slight size 8'.  Now, this was a much more appealing scenario to me, than the altogether more probable reality, which was either that everyone was sent a size 8, or that the conversation went something like this  "...we’ve only got size eights left”.... “crap”........ ”ah sure send it out anyway"

WELL ......  the end result was, I spent about two weeks trying to forget about them; glancing every now and then at that dark, sexy, skinny legged, denim staring back at me from their perch across my wardrobe door. I contemplated sending them back. ....Now, I'm NOT one of these people who strives to be a size anything other than what I am,  but sometimes, even the most self assured of girls can have weak moments, right - and thus one evening after a glass of wine and in a particularly self depricating mood, I got a notion to try them on – just to see how far up towards my knee area they would come - you understand.
So I began to pull them on and lo and behold.... they fitted - and not in a ‘girl from the Special K adverts hopping around on one leg and using a coat hanger to pull up the zip’ kind of way either. They slipped up and tied perfectly.
I stood for a while in mild disbelief.
Then I turned around slowly and nodded approvingly – admiring the bum area for longer than was probably required, before pulling on some shearling knee high boots and toddling off in high spirits. Yes.... toddling.

The moral of this tale: (a) I have fitted into a size EIGHT for the first and probably only time in my life, EVER and yes even though size isn't something I make an issue of for anyone or for any reason, I will admit, in this instance, to feeling a little smug (b) ALWAYS try things on and (c)  Beg Borrow or Steal are clearly rather generous in the size department and have an amazingly forgiving fit.

My conclusion, Beg, Borrow or Steal jeans are super comfoy, super tailored, super forgiving (even their skinnies) and super reasonable at €65.

Beg, Borrow or Steal jeans are currently available to buy in Laundry Room, Dundrum, in the Laundry Room concession in Arnotts, Dublin and in Stripe boutique, Naas, Co. Kildare. The online store will be launching soon: www.bbsjeans.com

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - the lovely ladies featured in the pictures are in fact, models and are not of me in my new BBS skinnies.
