Kate Winslet's 'siren' hairstyle

Kate Winslet dazzled in her strapless silver Yves Saint Laurent gown at Sunday night's Oscars (07.03.10) and she also impressed with her glamorous hairstyle.

The 'Titanic' actress - who won the Best Actress award at last year's ceremony - looked stunning as her blonde locks tumbled in waves passed her shoulders, giving her the ultimate Hollywood siren look.

London celebrity hairdresser Errol Douglas MBE said of Kate's tresses: "My favourite look of all at the Oscars is Kate Winslet, she looks amazing - elegant, calm, the hair is waved in the right place, backcombed and brushed out - she looks like a siren."

Cameron Diaz went for a similar look to Kate's when it came to hair, and while she still looked stunning, Errol wasn't overwhelmed.

He said: "Cameron's hair looks nice but isn't a show stopper. It's the same style as Kate Winslet's but looser and curlier at the bottom. It's 40s influenced but I'd prefer it combed in to look like a wave rather than left as a curl."

While Sandra Bullock took home the Best Actress honour and was widely praised for her figure-hugging silver sequinned dress, Errol believes her raven locks could have been better.

He told BANG Showbiz: "Sandra's hair could do with more interest with that dress - more texture or movement. It's a bit too flat and straight and doesn't flatter her around the ears! The colour's fantastic, but I'd have done either a low ballerina bun to one side or in the middle; she looks good with her hair scraped back."

As well as long tumbling locks, the up-do was popular on the red carpet at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre and Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Diane Kruger all pulled this off to show off their great bone structure.

Eroll - who was awarded an MBE in 2008 for his services to hairdressing - said: "She looks sensational - a great example of when scraped back hair with a simple side parting looks amazing. She's stolen the show!"
