First for me and for New Look!

Welcome to my first entry for Stylebible! I'm delighted to be joining Ireland's most popular fashion and lifestyle website and look forward to sharing my thoughts, opinions and news on fashion, beauty and food in the coming months!

Pay day was yesterday for me and so shopping is on the agenda for the weekend. I was disappointed to hear the news recently that Arnott's Project Store in Jervis Shopping centre is to close down. Perhaps it's not a surprise in the current climate but the arrival of Arnott's trendier, younger sister just under a year ago was a welcome addition to the Irish high street. The youth focused store was the northside's answer to BT2, housing a variety of funky collections and high street favourites including Lipsy, Warehouse, French Connection and Oasis along with dresses from Max C and Maisy, jewellery from Pandora, Benefit and Urban Decay make up and an eclectic range of vintage finds and quirky accessories.

This spacious four floored retailer oozed cool with it's combined warehouse/boutique atmoshphere, customised floors with brightly coloured interior including designs from top Irish grafitti artist Maser which echoed the funky feel from the urban street wear and boutique labels available. Launched by electro rocker Ladyhawke, this store looked set to become a firm favourite on the Irish fashion landscape, and it's a pity to see it close so soon.

However, we might just get over this news if rumours are to be believed - a reliable fashion source has informed me (top secret!) that British fashion favourite New Look are a strong contender to take over the space.  Despite having a number of outlets outside of Dublin city including Dun Laoghaire, Drogheda and Santry, this would be New Look's first venture city centre and I can see it being a huge success. It's placed somewhere between Penneys and H & M - there's a lot of junk to wade through, but if you have the time there are some great finds and I have unearthed some gems in the Omni Centre in recent years. There's no doubting its affordability and it's the perfect choice for disposable trends that will bring your wardrobe bang up to date. The recent campaign with Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen also has me gagging for a visit to check out their spring/summer collection.

We'll just have to wait and see if this news unfolds into something definite - watch this space for updates!

Surprising how New Look haven't established a store in the city centre yet, heres hoping!

It would be the ideal spot for a New Look actually wouldn't it? Although if it's true about the Arnotts Project, that is sad news ... proves that they may have been a bit quick to try and battle the recession with an expensive new venture while things were clearly on a downward spiral... pity bout Vero Moda too!!
