WARNING: SALES NOW ON.

Sales. Overrated possibly, or maybe it is that the quality of sale wares is deteriorating in the age of rescission, less quality just more quantity.  This year, I did not have time to properly blitz the sales as was my usual form. Normally, I would go to town armed with my vouchers, and hit River island, Topshop Tkmaxx, New look et al with demented abandon. I would shop rings around myself, initially delighted at ALL I had bought with my money and vouchers, only to thereafter get the fear. It’s all crud. I would land home with around twenty bangles,  chains and sparkly tops from the Miss Selfridge/Topshop sales, with the mindset that they were soo expensive before, sure isn’t it great now I have them for next too nothing. WRONG, I’ve just spent forty euro on accessories that will gather dust on my dressing table.

So with my hard earned money and lovely vouchers, (thank you Darren) I am going to think carefully about what I need and want from the shops, and be less haste and waste and more savvy.  I think a lot of people are thinking along the same lines this year, and fair play. Sales shoppers, just put the crochet cropped cardigan DOWN, yes it’s from Next and was €120, but you won’t wear it, unless your invited to a Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Just because something is reduced from a ridiculous price, does not mean you’re getting any value for it. A mini floral body con dress, do you need it, in January? Determine the shops that stock the clothing that you like most, and are of the best quality and try and see if there are any good post-Christmas reductions there.

I waited too long and could not find many deals yesterday, so I bought some reduced plain tops in A-Wear and a chunky knit jumper in New Look. I went on Asos and got a pair of skinny jeans in the sale, as well as a detachable fur collar to pimp my existing cardi’s and jackets. Next on my agenda is a good long coat, maybe a trench- a pair of leather shorts, some brown wedged heels, as well as some flat Navajo style boots, a pair of maroon jeans and a satchel of some sort.  Looking forward to some strategic shopping, might wait until the Spring/Summer collections come in…incase I cave and end up another victim of sale fear!
