Shake Up with Ellie @ LA Make Up

Whilst attempting to paint my ‘mouse’ whiskers onto my cheek Halloween night, and anxiously awaiting the upcoming moment whereby my shaky hands and I RUIN my fake eye-lash application, a thought struck me. I am TERRIBLE at applying my face. Be it my attempts at Halloween make up artistry, #amateur,  or my day to day and especially night face… I stick to the old faithful’s, moisturizer, concealer, foundation, blusher, some powder and bronze, and I enjoy accentuating my eyes, so use gel eye liner on top lash. Nothing to intricate, but this has become so boring and predictable, especially when I want to bring this look into night with some dramatization!

I have begun to crave foray’s into bold brows, and highlighters… and maybe even contouring, ooh now we’re talking! This is all Kim Kardashians fault. Looking at her flawless face during all this extreme divorce coverage makes me lust after a preened and perfect make up look. This led me to notice an actual course women in my situation can take, and its available here in Dublin! The renowned professionals at the glam national LA Make-Up Academy have created a one day intensive, which has been popping up all over the magazines and web. This course, is designed by one of Irelands leading beauty professionals Ellie Balfe and is called "The Complete Beauty Edit". Very chic and exciting, the course which is aimed females in the twenty something age category, new mother's, women with children and is designed specifically for those who feel stuck in a makeup rut, i.e. ME!  It is perfect for those of us who wish to update our makeup/make up bag. Not only does this course teach us the technical ‘How To’ stuff, but the part which further endeared me is, it guides us in the direction of which products to buy, this is a God send,  for those of us who experiment to the point where we have seven moldy mascaras and a foundation designed for Asian skin tones…

Irish women are notorious for not knowing what works best with their beautiful fair skin tone and sensitive skin type, especially for winter months. We need to keep our glow fresh not cake it. Ellie’s course will include the use of natural, organic products and will deal directly with intensive skin care regimes. Tackling specifically, the changes that occur during pregnancy, for example vein treatments, breakouts and dryness. For the pregnant woman, the career woman, the woman with little to no time in the morning. Ellie’s course will prove a mini me-time make up tip talk, to provide a quick guide in how to perk our face up in no time. Sweet!

Ellie has 18 years’ experience as a working makeup artist and is now one of the industry’s most trusted insiders.  She regularly writes beauty pieces for several magazines and blogs as well as her own popular blog http://elliebalfe.blogspot.com/ Do visit, I love it!

The course will show the eager make up student:

•    How to choose the right foundation shade,

•    Easy eye-lining techniques

•    The way to use bronzer and blusher to best effect,

•    How to conceal any unwanted shadows or blemishes

•    How to choose eyeshadows to complement your own eyes as well as and answer the eternal question? How to find a lip colour that really works for me?!

This is a one day course, well worth it it for those of us who want some serious pointers to take away and keep, to then use for ourselves to a flawless and fabulous effect. Kim who?!

LA Make Up Academy’s The Complete Beauty Edit will run on the 12th of November and costs just €150.
