GaGa Hearts Versace
Lady GaGa has been awarded FULL access to the Versace archive, what a treat for the fashion obsessed singer! Que OTT versions of all the Versace back catalogue. We're going to see the glamazon in mammoth eighties glam ensembles, unique takes on nineties grunge minimalism and taking mis-matching to a whole new level. Versace are famous for their out there heritage prints and gold accessories, as well as colour blocking so the brand is very apt for Summer 2011. Gaga has vowed to wear ONLY Versace for the next eight weeks, so it should make for interesting looks to be produced from the brazen American star.
This got me to thinking about which designer/shop I would like to gain access to. I am not overly accustomed to designer lables in all honesty (I'm a 22 year old student, maybe one day...) and so do not own anything of note. This said I am familiar'ish with designers from endlessly drooling over celebrities in magazines, films, on televison and in blogs. If I had been asked this a year or two ago I would have said Chanel, but quite frankly the preppy 'Alexa Chung' tweeds don't interest me anymore and the chain bags have become over-rated. Miu Miu have some amazing avant garde quirky pieces favoured by the likes of Daisy Lowe and Gwen Stefani, but if I had to choose I would prefer access to the back catalouge of the Vivienne Westwood collection. Her clothes and accessories are so unique and inspiring, with a real strong yet feminine vintage feel. Think Carrie Bradshaw or Rhianna. Nipped in waists, stark colours and striking rings, belts and shoes. The Vivienne Westwood kitten heels however, are awful, I would let her keep those. If Mulberry would give me access to all their lovely satchels also that'd be quite nice.
If I had to choose a high-street shop to allow me have the entirety of their products, that would be difficult. There is my obvious first choice, which would be Topshop, but part of me would more inclined to opt for something more different like Miss Selfrige or Asos. In an ideal world, for now I'll just have to save my pennies, and buy in Pennys!
