Festival Fashion Galore
Well, my Summer has been moving along at a chilled pace so for, I'm hoping the best of the Summer months is yet to come… Can't complain though, I am enjoying my Summer at home in Donegal, though I have wistfully been looking at holidays, planning one for the start of Sept-cannot wait! Before that I also have a number of 21st's, gig's and a wedding, so with work and everything, it should be a busy one. Then I am starting my Masters in Public Relations in DIT late Sept, delighted! Dublin once again for a year, studying a degree I have wanted for a long time, sweet!
Regretfully I am (so far) not attending a festival this Summer. With Oxegen looming this weekend I am getting envious of all the attendees. Muse, Kasabian, 3Oh!3, Prodigy, Calvin Harris, Stereophonics and SO many more amazing acts will be in Punchestown this weekend. Sigh! Electric Picnic could be hit yet… But, on a more shallow note, as much as I love music and live bands, festival fashion is one of my favourite parts of the whole experience. I have looking at photo's from Glasto, and Isle of Wight and drooling over the comfy yet cool styles the festivalista's have been rocking up…stars and fans alike have been coming up trumps in the style stakes. Playsuits and DIY denims shorts, vintage ankle boots, feathers, trilbies and totes galore. Piecing together you're capsule weekend wardrobe is a big part of the fun I feel. Though climate-wise in Ireland especially sometimes sense has to come before couture. The forecast for this weekend aint pretty (mwhaha) so I would advise oxe-goers to invest in a nice rain jacket and some sturdy wellies. Or regret it once you're knee deep in muck, and soaked to the skin, it rains at some stage every year. It's tradition, you just have to embrace it!
I made a vow, I WILL go to Glastonbury next year, if its the last thing I do. After watching a clip of Florence and the Machine in action at this years fest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbAUp5goZYs) I was blown away by the sheer glamour and power she possessed on stage. It was a dream gig, she was euphoric during the performance, the audience were in awe of her. She didn't disappoint style-wise either, wearing a stunning peach one-shoulder leotard with a flowing bird-like embroidery. Beautiful. And Flo was not the only well-dressed starlet, Marina (Marina and the Diamonds), Anna Matronic (Scissor Sisters) and Paloma Faith all wowed with their unique brands of style. It was a treat for both the ears and the eyes.
Hope all the Oxegen goers enjoy this weekend, stay safe, and see as many bands as is physically possible. I will try to ward off my jealousy, and concentrate on making my Glastonbury dream for next year come true!
Marie! xx

I'm here stuck in the office for the summer, what i wouldn't give to be relaxing at home and chilling! Good luck with your masters, will be challenging i'm sure but you'll succeed - just give it ur best and it helps that you're so enthusiastic about the course.
I'm not going to the festivals either, but sure we'll hear all next week :)
