The Importance of the Double-Up
Coco Chanel gently reminds us to take one thing off when we leave the house. I say: why? Why have one when you can have two? Why have one belt when you can have two? Why have one necklace when you can have two*? I have been known to wear two sets of scarves, two sets of tights and even sometimes two sets of coats (that can get a little tricky under the arm area). I embrace layering wholeheartedly; you get to wear all your favourite pieces at once and the stress of decision-making becomes a distant memory. Two watches means excellent time keeping, two scarves ensure greater warmth and two belts will definitely hold your trousers up. The Double Up is a marvellous fashion strategy.
* Or three? Or four if you’re feeling really adventurous – my personal belief is that you can never have enough necklaces.
