Co Co Coconnut oil........a zillion uses in one!!
Its rare that you come across a product that can do the job of 4 or 5 in 1! And its even rarer to find a product that does all this in a natural way. And its even rarer AGAIN to find one that's effective! Well, i gots it! Coconut Oil. Not the runny stuff. I'm talking about the hard balmy coconut oil. This stuff is, trust me, AMAZING!The benefits of using coconut oil go on for miles and the fact that its dirt cheap makes it even better. I don't just use any coconut oil now mind you! I use the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil from Viridian.....its just coconut oil. Zilch else! And, it smells like a Bounty Bar -YUM FEST! Coconut is one of my fav fillings be it in cake or chocolate and it reminds me of holidays abroad too, slapping on the coconut scented SPF. Anyhoo, heres all the uses I put it to;
Eye Make-up removal: Ive tried so many eye make-up removers and
they're usually aload of cod wallops. No matter how much I apply to the cotton wool ball or how much I dab and swipe the eye area, I wake up the next day looking like a wino that's been roaming the streets all night rather than tucked up in bed. Plus, usually cleansers that claim to remove eye makeup as well as face makeup are LYING! They never do both effectively. Plus again, any eye makeup remover I've tried is either loaded with crap ingredients or leaves my eyes stinging begging for mercy. Coconut oil blows any eye makeup remover Ive tried out of the water. I just scrape a bit of the balmy oil out of the jar which melts on contact with your fingers. I close my eyes and with my ring finger gently slide back and forth the eye lashes. Mascara, eyeliner, gunk and even Saturday night eyes melt almost straight away. Now, the eye makeup that slides off ends up ALL AROUND the eye area but chill out! All you have to do is wipe it with a warm cloth or cotton wool. Coconut oil is a fab wrinkle buster and preventer, plus....I'm convinced its making my eyelashes grow longer? SERIOUSLY! Less are falling out too!
Cleanser: I use Nude's Oil Cleanser (check it out online here) which I'll review soon but I also use Coconut oil and it does such a lovely job. Apply it to dry skin and massage the life out of your skin for 5 mins then buff off with a hot muslin cloth. Its all about the muslin cloth people. Dont just splash your face with water. Your face will be an oil slick. Plus, don't fret if you've got oily skin.....oil dissolves oil so it wont make your skin oilier. It's super moisturising, fab for spots and again...it works on fine lines and prevents them too. The massaging technique gets the blood flowing in your face and done regularly prevents sagging. EVERY woman should spend at least 10 mins a night on her face. You wont see the results over night but in time you'll have a perky face compared with most around you who's jowls will be dragging along the floor. Well...here's hoping anyway?
Hair & Scalp Mask: This doesn't feel the best on your head...I wont lie. It feels like you haven't washed your hair in a few months and it looks rank! But it works! I usually take a spoon full from the jar and heat it for 1 min in the microwave. I then slap it all over my noggin (leave it cool down a bit first) whilst massaging the scalp, urging my hair to GROW! You can either put a towel over your pillow and shhhleep in it or just leave it on for a few hours pottering around your house. Under no circumstances do you leave your gaff with your hair in that state! I usually go for the over-nighter. It washes out easily after a double shampoo and leaves your hair so soft and silky. It moisturises every strand, root to tip. Gorgeous!
Lips, elbows, heels and any other chappy bits you have lying around on your skin: I put a tea-spoon of coconut oil into an old Vaseline tub, melt it in the tub on the radiator then take it off and leave it cool. A while later and you have a tub of smooth coconut oil for your lips. Its great at night too smeared on dry heels. Pop a pair of socks on your feet and night after night your heels will become soft again. It ain't the sexiest wearing socks to bed but its in the name of beauty damn it! My mum has psoriasis on her forehead and she swears by coconut oil. Its the only thing that shifts it properly for her!
So theres my uses for this tub of goodness, but there are truck loads more including weight loss, digestion, and even heart disease. Once again a natural bit of goodness prevails in the masses of crappy products!
The newest product to come from the coconut family is Vita Coco - a 100% natural coconut, super hydrating and nutrient packed water, supposed to be fab for skin and hair. Its HUGE in celeb land and I'm on the look out for it big time and will report back with any results!
