The Prudence Best Buy Beauty Awards


The Prudence Best Buy Beauty Awards are in their second year and are a rather important event for Irish beauty junkies - aka people like us - because they undergo the difficult task of having all sorts of popular (and some unknown) beauty products tested and judged by a panel of clever beauty folk 'in the know', in order to find out which are the best value products and the best performing ones - all of which is very important information for us to have in the midst of a recession when we can't afford to be road testing every product under the sun to find the right ones eh? So at a swanky event, compered by TV3 presenter Sinead Desmond and held in the Gibson hotel, their choice of the Best Buy products were highlighted. 

Perhaps a surprise to some, was the news that the overall winner on the night was a wonder potion from German discount store Aldi - (pictured left and above) it was the ALDI SUPERCREAM which proudly scooped the PRUDENCE BEST BUY MAGAZINE BEAUTY AWARD! It is €6.99 The supermarket’s Lacura Face Care Double Lift Regeneration Cream won the Day and Night Creams category, beating off competition from established skincare brands like L’Oréal Paris, RoC and Bliss. A peptide, retinol and vitamin E mix convinced judges that this performance skincare product is a great buy for Irish women who are crying out for quality products that don’t break the bank.

 

Other winners on the night included Irish brand L’Onglex, which cleaned up in the Hands and Nails category for its excellent Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover, €3.67,

 

 

 

 




Penneys, which scored two gongs for its SPF30 Sun Lotion, €2.70, and Ta Ta for Now Concealer, €3, which judges said mimicked much more expensive brush concealers.
Independently judged by a panel of industry experts, Prudence’s beauty awards are now in their second year and are dedicated to rewarding great beauty buys that perform for pocket-friendly prices. The awards also feature ‘splurges’ – more expensive treat buys which are worth the cost because of their high performance.

The Prudence Best Buy Beauty Awards will be published in a special handbag-sized booklet along with the September issue, in stores on September 1st.
