Get Beautiful Feet for the New Year

Check out this nifty, portable little gadget - a great idea for a Christmas Pressie by the way, (although you'd probably need to know the person pretty well to produce it) but if you hear somebody close to you moaning of how a winters worth of neglect has left their feet dry and scaly or if YOU yourself feel you have have scaly feet that are rough and calloused, then keep this little wonder machine in your head.  It's a pedicure at home system - it's the Micro-Pedi.

It's roller, which spins 360 degrees at 30 times per second, is quick and gentle and gives immediate results... seriously!

Available at leading pharmacies and health stores nationwide or direct from Lifes2good on 1890 25 24 31 and www.lifes2good.ie. Priced at just €39.95 it’s a steal and replacement heads are now available at just €14.95 per pack.

FOOT FACTS: I'm not a foot person, and would be kind of slow to describe any fact about feet as 'fun' particularly, but nonetheless, the people at Lifes2good (the company behind the Micro Pedi) have put together their top ten foot facts and they are quite interesting actually.... espcially the one that says we excrete up to HALF A PINT of moisture though our feet each day!!! EEEEUUUGH........

Check it out...

1)      The foot is an intricate structure containing 26 bones. Thirty-three joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles, and tendons hold the structure together and allow it to move in a variety of ways.

2)      The 52 bones in your feet make up about one quarter of all the bones in your body.

3)      Women have about four times as many foot problems as men; lifelong patterns of wearing high heels often are the culprit.

4)      The average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. Those cover several miles, and they all add up to about 115,000 miles in a lifetime -- more than four times the circumference of the globe.

5)      There are times when you're walking that the pressure on your feet exceeds your body weight, and when you're running, it can be three or four times your weight.

6)      Walking is the best exercise for your feet. It also contributes to your general health by improving circulation, contributing to weight control and promoting all-around well being.

7)      Your feet mirror your general health. Such conditions as arthritis, diabetes, nerve and circulatory disorders can show their initial symptoms in the feet -- so foot ailments can be your first sign of more serious medical problems.

8)      The podiatric physician (doctor of podiatric medicine, or DPM) is the health care professional trained in the care of your feet. He or she receives conventional medical training, plus special training on the foot, ankle, and lower leg.

9)      There are approximately 250,000 sweat glands in a pair of feet, and they excrete as much as half a pint of moisture each day.

10)  Corns and calluses are caused by friction and pressure from skin rubbing against bony areas when wearing shoes. If the first signs of soreness are ignored, corns and calluses rise up as nature's way of protecting sensitive areas.
